The problem

A Corner Shop in Heslington, York needed a fresh start. Business was plummeting, and owner Amit Patel put it down to the shop's shabby image. A complete make-over was needed! Wrapped up with running the day-to-day business, Amit turned to SIGNARAMA York to help him relaunch the shop's image.

The challenge
Despite the shop sitting on a street corner, many locals weren't even aware of its presence. The design had to steer people towards the shop and want to pop in. Business had to improve if the shop was to survive.

Mike Symons, owner of SIGNARAMA York, said: "We were called by Amit who knew a new look was needed, but didn't know where to start. Many people in his locality weren't even aware of the shop's existence! We were delighted to be asked to help."

The solution
SIGNARAMA set about providing new ‘Reynobond' fascia panels, aluminium frames and lighting. The team used digital prints and vinyl lettering on the glass windows to highlight what was on sale inside the shop and encourage passers-by to step in. For consistency SIGNARAMA used Metamark 7 year vinyl to match the shop's new bright red painted woodwork; and installed overhead lighting to spotlight the shop at night."

Amit Patel is delighted with the colourful new look, so much so that he is proud to put his name to it - relaunching the shop as "Mister P's" which he is known as locally. Amit said: "Business has risen dramatically and we are certainly here to stay, thanks to SIGNARAMA waving their magic wand over the store."
