SIGNARAMA York finds a cost effective solution
The QUEENS HOTEL on Skeldergate in the centre of York asked SIGNARAMA to refurbish its existing neon sign and in the process has achieved a solution that will save money on running costs in the future. When the Queens Hotel was built in 2000, SIGNARAMA was asked to supply and install the exterior signage. Although regularly maintained over the past 10 years, the metal letters, painted gold with neon halo illumination, were starting to show their age. This combined with the increasing cost of maintenance led the hotel's owners to decide to upgrade the exterior signage.
The new signage which was recommended, supplied and installed by SIGNARAMA features LED lights inside the existing lettering to replace the neon. With energy savings of around 60% the new LED lighting has enabled the Queens Hotel to reduce its energy bill, is more environmentally friendly and because LED lights have a longer and more reliable life span a reduction in maintenance costs is expected. The original lettering was re-used, so the main challenge of the project was to remove, clean and reinstall the lettering without damaging it.
Mike Symons, owner of SIGNARAMA in York, said "The Queens Hotel was one of our first projects when we started our sign business. Over the past 10 years, we have developed a close working relationship with the hotel and we were delighted to help them with the renovation of their signage."
